Feeling the Heat
Oct 9, 2010

central Pa
So the storm that they have been calling for here in Pa is here. I am relaxing inside before i start clearing it off my over 100 yard long drive way. The F-400 is rocking at 525 and I just had to take off my sweat shirt because its so warm in here! I know when i come back in from clearing the snow I will warm up much faster too! I love wood burning!!!! Just wanted to share.

I agree, a house heated by wood is so much warmer when you come in from the cold. Plus it gives us a place to dry off boots/gloves and whatever else got wet.

this is why i just got a few days worth of wood in here. maybe 24 inches here for us. cant wait.

This storm we are getting tonight is being called the "perfect storm",,,will be interesting to see what happens...
md

im cant wait we havent had a good storm in a while. growing up in pennsylvania just south of buffalo is when we got the good stuff. 3 or 4 feet at a time. now around here commen storms are 6 to 12 inches. and people freak out. i miss the big storms.

It missed me by THAT much..... :coolcheese:
Current weather: 38* cold rain
current stovetop temp: 590*

I hope we get 6 feet. I want to ski and board into July.

Looks like the snow we were supposed to get is heading north. Locally it may be called on account of rain. Good riddance. They were predicting up to 20" last Friday. That would have paralyzed this region.

i think we may get 8 inches to a foot on top of the 15 inches on the ground well see if we go to work tomorrow......

It skirted us on the way up. We have light snow and freezing drizzle outside at the moment. You guys can keep the stuff. I got enough last year to last me a lifetime. Wood heat is wonderful, but that eighty bucks in generator gas sucked big time.

NOT !!

1' - 2' worst case, 8" - 18" best case .... unless I pass the "East End of The Island" demarcation. They're saying Route 111, which is 40 minutes east of me.

Just craptastic >:-(

we are about 2 miles from beach so may get some mixing but they have us down for foot or more with blowing and tree damage maybe.........maybe some scrounging opportunities this weekend!

I hear ya - Upton is calling for 18.7 as of 18:50 EDT.

The X-mas storm dumped about 20 on us; and I just got recalled to work! So, I'm out the door in the next 1/2 hr to do ANOTHER 30+ hr stint. DAMN!

O.T. what's that?! This is when I HATE being a "salaried" employee; every other schmuck is raking in OT!

Hopefully nothing breaks, and I'm on the forum...

We live in upstate South Carolina in a very rural area out in the boonies. We received 8 inches in the storm and have been housebound , think lockdown. The authorities have said it'll not really be better tell Friday noon and they want everyone to stay home tell then. So think about all the new little kids that well be around here come the middle of Sept. A baby boom caused by our snow storm. Super neat idea, love it. David

1.5 weeks of wood- bring it on!

Snowmageddon of the Millenium- or so I am expecting the local weather station to dub this event.

And I thought we were doing pretty good down here with 8 or 9 inches. :) Looks like it may not get above freezing til the weekend. We get some snow every year, but it's not real often that we get one to lay on the ground over a week. Stove has been rocking along nonstop for several days. Life is good!

have to kick my kids off the big tv in the family room (Biggest Loser) where stove is so I can check out the weather babes and see what happened with the Bruins game (who were up 2-0 before I gave up the clicker) - the tv hype is ridiculous but gotta get my fill

That's one funny thing for us is that when it is going to snow or in the forecast, we know it will be warming up on the milder side of winter and can give our car plugs a break and the wood pile a little bit. Looking to be close to -40 by Thursday. Ice fog in the mornings and clear skies.
Enjoy the snow you guys.

Much better info off the internet and often more accurate. TV works too hard to make a story out of little, especially on a slow news day.

That looks to be about 4-5 days of good heat there. Am I close. :)
