When things were quiet in the house I started to hear a fast ticking that would come in spurts from the ceiling above the cabinet. If I pound on the cabinet sometimes it will stop. I did a little searching and found that this usually means beetles? Anybody have this problem before? The area above the kitchen is attic space, so it's easy to get at-what can I use to kill them?

An Icepick ???

Framing in my house "ticks" sometimes when the weather gets warm and humid, likely due to gradual swelling. It can happen intermittently for days. Could it be something along that line?
