What makes the stove blowers on a wood stove, stove specific? I was told by the shop that they cannot get a blower for my stove. I would really like one for next winter.

So what makes them stove specific? could I take another and fit it to my stove?

Thanks

Yes, you should be able to find one that fits.

Please give specifics of your stove and someone here might be able to help.

I don't know much about other models but there are plenty of others here that will know.

Thanks for the reply. It is a quadra fire 1900 model. The guy at the stove shop was a little confused about the model # until I gave him the serial #.

It is the small one I guess. I picked it up used to save $ since buying a new house has pretty much wiped my account out.

The guy at the stove shop said he cannot locate a blower or a pipe damper for me because they stop selling parts for stoves after the 10 year old mark.

I really want a blower to help heat the other parts of my house, especially since I have little ones sleeping upstairs and I don't wanna pay for alot of propane all winter.

Any help on the blower would be great.

P.s. I was looking at new stoves online. I was thinking (when I have $) about getting a "medium" sized stove to maybe create more heat. But the medium sized ones really don't have a much bigger fire box then the one I have now. I found that odd. At least the ones from Vermont castings don't.

My house is about 1500 sq. feet, 2 floors. The stove is in a big family room on the far left of the house.

Thanks again!

You might find this interesting.

Notice last sentence......

Make sure your stove is near a wall plug........and does your stove have 3 holes in bottom rear ?

If so, then this motor might work,

New burner I read........welcome !

#1 You first need fire alarms and CO2 detectors........these are a must. Install according to directions.

I just read one of your other post and you mentioned wet wood or possible air problems. If you don't mind, fill us in on your pipe layout ect. so you can rule out draft problems.

You wood needs to be good and dry to get a good draft too...........not enough flame(heat) no draft.

There are lots of variables involved here for your burn to be good so tell us about your setup.

One last thing, I have a 1850 sq.ft. home, two story. It stays very toasty (78) upstairs with a blower on low and heat rising up the steps...........and stove blowers are not your only option if they don't make one for your stove.

Wow, thanks for all the information!! I will look more into that blower.

I wanna keep it warm in the house without being blown out out the family room.

As far as the draft problems or whatever. All the wood that I have been burning has been newly cut wood. Not green stuff but stuff that was on the ground from storms or whatever. It is dead but still in good condition. That is why I think it was wet.

As far as my exhaust, nothing special, just a 6 " pipe from the top of the stove. it goes 24" straight up before a 45 degree bend. then about 14" to another 45 into the wall.

The chimney is one of those stainless add on chimneys. It was done by the previous owners and I had it inspected.

I do have smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide alarms.

yes my stove has three holes with phillips head bolts in them. The bolts are doing nothing right now. The are located at the bottom of the rear heat shield.

I believe that blower will work. But my only concern is this, from the rear of the fire box to the rear heat shield (where the bolts are)

the space is only 2 skinny fingers wide. On the blower, I hope the opening (where the blown air comes out) is not much wider than the space that I have. Then it may not bolt up do to clearance.

Sorry for the bad wording.

thanks

The picture of the blower in the link does not look like a factory blower to me, try to find a perfect fit first..........then if you can't get one try an after market.

Look at the PDF link I posted (scroll down), it shows a blower with a built in line reostat..........not an on box power adjuster like shown in other link. That would be a pain I think because you would have to reach behind the stove to adjust speed.........it appears that way.

Contact the company first..........there may be dealer somewhere that has your blower.........part number 831-1700 according to the accessories parts list on the PDF page.

Be sure and double check the number.

I E-mailed the stove maker. I will have to see if they actually get back to me and what they say if they do.

Thanks

Well I went out on a limb and ordered the one from the company linked above! I ordered it because their part # and Quadra's part # matched. I hope it is indeed the correct one so I don't have to mess with a return!!

Thanks for all who helped out this newbie!!
