Feeling the Heat

So I was thinking of raising my stove about an inch off of my slate/concrete hearth. I was thinking about putting 4 fire bricks under the stove to prevent thermal transfer to and from the stove to increase my burn times. My hearth/chimney backs up to an unheated garage and into the basement.
What are your thoughts on this?
Will it work?

I am thinking that you will not even notice the difference. The bottom of the unit is not the part that heats. Your burn time may be increased by about 15 seconds. Just a guess.

That isn't going to have any effect on burn time. Insulating the garage wall and the basement ceiling might help with heat retention though?
