Can a stove pipe shield be used to reduce clearance on Double wall pipe? I have 10" of clearance from the double wall pipe to the wall, but would like to put in a 7" wide wood mantel. That would reduce clearance at the mantel to 3". Can only find info online for using pipe shields on single wall pipe (18" to 6"). Any ideas? Other option is to carve a 3" groove in the mantel behind the pipe, but really don't want to go there unless absolutely necessary.
