I have a Quaker Moravian stove insert and I was wondering what should the temp gauge on the top of my stove be reading. I obviously can’t take a pipe temp reading. And all I have is a temp gauge that sits on the top of my stove. What temps should I have that running at for my stove. I have been running it around 500-600 degrees. Don’t know if you guys could give me an insight on the matter.

That sounds like a good temp for running it. It could even be pushed a little hotter in very cold weather, say 650º with a maximum of 700º at peak burn.
