Fairly new to burning wood, second winter approaching. Recently put a new stovepipe on and the connection between the stove and pipe has some small gaps between them. Is the common or should I be a able to see no light down through the edges of the pipe and stove?

Using VC Intrepid II w/catalytic

Yes. Go to your local hardware and buy some furnace cement. Cement the pipe well and then also screw it into place. Also read the directions; the furnace cement should be cured.
