I need a flap pin for the thermostat on my 1979 VC resolute stove It says on a few parts sites that heavy stove wire can be used as a substitute. What is heavy stove wire?

Heavy meaning thicker gauge wire. As in bailing wire, fence, or any steel wire the same thickness as what was there.

Thanks I have a few kinds of wire that may work. I'll give it a try. I found the part but it's 13.50 and shipping is 14.27. Thats absolutely insane.

Drill it out and use coat hanger? Old paint can handle........ anything the right thickness to allow it to swing freely.
