Stove is dampered down as far as it will go and is still roaring. It's giving me too much draft. I'm going to have to burn small fires tonight.

Adding a secondary air control is really helpful in windy conditions. And make sure your primary air is actually closed at it's lowest setting. Many stoves don't allow it to be closed fully.
 
An inline draft damper can be handy here.
