I forgot to add that i don't really trust my stove thermometers right now. IR gun comes in next week i still trust my flue probe.

I use my magnetic as a guide for setting the burn up, then I zap it with the IR gun for good measure.

What size splits. Cross section. I am having trouble putting more than 3 in. I think I have splits that are between 6-8" wide. Is that too big? Jotul oslo

They were a little on the smallish side that is why i think the temp peaked at 750 i would have rather it peaked at 650. also i raked the coal bed forward to and i started turning the air down sooner then i used too. This gave me dancing blue flame it was not a propane grill look it was a lazy look. Also it may have not been 750 my magnetic temp gauges are off right now i think.

Evidently that is too big for your stove.
