I found some Bio Plus for $4.00 p/b. I bought 1 bag and they burned well in our insert. I will see if they have a better price per the ton, but I will buy them anyway. I,m not sure how the supply will be next fall or the price. so I,d like to store some just in case.

Today I had to drive a couple of towns away to buy pellets. Both stores in my town (Walmart and Aubuchon's) that sell them are out for the season. Aubuchon's may or may not get more, but for now they're out, and their requests for more are not being filled. They sell the good Energex pellets, and they said the Energex plant had a problem with their production line which cut production for a while. I don't know if this is true.

So I loaded my Toyota Corolla with 24 bags (960 lbs) of Energex at an Aubuchon's in the other town !! I hope this, plus the little bit I have here, will get me through the end of the heating season here in northern New York State.

Being new to pellet burning, I hadn't expected the stores to run out in mid-March. I'll have to keep that in mind for next year....

Any comments ?

Damn how did you get that many pellets into such a small car? I only put 20 bags in my minivan and I feel like it is at max capacity. I could only put 8 bags in my old Ford Escort wagon before the suspension would start to sag and I worried about losing my muffler on any pebbles in the roadway.
I haven't heard anything about Energex mishaps...and I do think they have more than one mill producing them.
Always remember when you see the gas grills on the sales floor...pellets are long gone. Home Depot down the street had the grills out in the middle of February this year Da bastards!!!

Hey SparkyDog, I put 9 in the trunk, and 5 in each vacant seat (front passenger seat and two back seats) - this included in the floorboard area of each seat. I could have tried another bag for an even half ton :). The car did okay.

This summer I probably need to get 6 tons and put 'em in my cellar. What a job it'll be, but when I'm done I'll be set for the year.
