I can't wait for the burning season to start. But in the meaintime, here's a little ditty you can think about while you are processing your wood and getting ready for the burning season to start. Its based on a song by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers called "The Waiting." I hope you enjoy it--I've called it Waiting for the Burning. Here is a link to the real song if you are not familiar with the tune.

Waiting for the Burning

Oh baby my splitter’s really revvin’ right now
Don't it feel like music from a dream?
Yeah I've never known power quite like this
Don't it feel like burning might never be again?
Baby we know better than to burn green wood
Baby no one coulda’ ever told me 'bout this
I said yeah yeah—yeah yeah—yeah yeah yeah…

Chorus
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more cord
You take it to your stacks, you take it to the hearth
The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah I might have chased a couple scrounges around
All it ever got me was rounds-
Yeah then there were loads that made me feel good
But never as good as I'm feelin’ right now
Baby you're the only stove that's ever known how
To make me wanna burn like I wanna burn now
I said yeah yeah—yeah yeah—yeah yeah yeah…

Chorus
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you stack one more cord
You take it to your racks, you take it to the hearth
The waiting is the hardest part

Oh don't let it kill you baby, don't let it creosote

Don't let it kill you baby, don't let it burn you down
I'll be your haulin’ cart, I'll be your cuttin’ tool
Don't let this go too far

Don’t let it burn too sooooooon.

Chorus
