Where do I put the magnetic thermometer on a Buck Stove model 85 with a blower? It is a SS liner and an insert, so on the flue is pretty difficult. Stovetop? Cast iron collar on the top of the stove that the SS insert goes into? Is there a difference in "good" temperatures depending on placement, eg add 100* to stovetop temps for actual temp or minus 100* from the cast iron collar?

The top appears to be a convection lid with the actual stovetop under an airgap that the blower blows through. Is this correct? If so, you may get a more accurate reading of the upper left or right corner of the face of the stove.

Correct, blower below that blows are back/around and then across the top and out.

Upper right on the face with the air closed all the way down is cruising at 525. Looks like I have a problem.

What problem?
