Anyone around that can give me a suggestion before I turn the oil on for the night?
Mt. Vernon AE, was running fine, got up to see if there was a problem after the auto clean and when I touched the thermostat I got a shock. This has happened before but the this time the screen went blank. In the manual it says give it 25 seconds and touch any button. I have unplugged the stove, taken the cover off the thermostat and checked the wiring in the back of the stove (which was fine), nothing has helped. The back light on the thermostat is blue but nothing appearing on it and stove is not running.

So, do you think the thermostat is toast? Is there any reset button that I am not aware of any other suggestions to get it up and running again?

    Thanks for any help

What type of thermostat do you have ? and take the wires off of the T stat and twist them together and see if the stove comes on. If it comes on the stat is bad you can leave the wires twisted together but the stove will not turn off until you untwist the wires

The tstate is the one that came with the stove from Quad. It just says Quadra-Fire on it.

Sorry to hear that. The quad thermostat is the only one what will work on this stove since the thermostat is an integral part of the stove. The only thing I can think of is unplugging the stove for a longer period of time, maybe a few minutes. There is nothing else that the manual talks about.

Don't twist them all together. There is a neutral, a switch and a 24v supply. Usually its red and white to twist together to turn on the furnace.

Is there an on/off switch. Just read on page 30 of the manual that if the thermostat is blank, check to see it is on.

Ok, the issue now is how to get the wires out. I can not turn the screws that I believe are holding them in.
Any suggestions on that one ? The wires go into the what I will call a brown housing unit and there are three screws on for each wire I thought all I would have to do is turn them and the wires would come out but I can not even more them.

do you own a glasses repair kit, you need a really fine screw driver. Alternatively, a sharp point knife, just move slow.:p

No, I have the manual and looked it over. There is no on/off switch that is done through the tstat.
The manual says to give it 25 seconds, check the hopper lid or door latch all of which I have done.

are there letters on the back of the t stat ? and just make sure f you remove them that they go back to the same terminal. You should just be able to turn the screw to the left and they should loosen up

I just pulled the side cover on my stove and I see one screw for each wire. They are not small either. Is this what you are trying to pull?

Yes see the letters but boy I can not turn the screws at all. They are small and tight will have to see if I have another screw driver that will help. Been trying to use eye glass set as that is what I found fit the screws.

No, I am working on the tsat that is mounted to the wall which controls everything to do with the unit.

it's, G/W/R. May not be in that order though. But yes, take them off with the stove unplugged and hopefully that'll be it.

Got the screws loss finally. twisted Red and Green. Stove still dead. Well its getting late on my end. Think I will put the wires back on and run the oil for the night then go back at it tomorrow.
One thing I am thinking is that it might have something to do with the hopper as I have been getting a lot of false low pellet readings and the manual said something about the hopper lid. Long shot but I will tackle it when I am more awake.

    Thanks for the quick responses

    • RH - This wire comes from the 24VAC transformer on the heating system.
    • RC - This wire comes from the 24VAC transformer on the air-conditioning system.
    • W - This wire comes from the relay that turns on the heating system.
    • Y - This wire comes from the relay that turns on the cooling system.
    • G - This wire comes from the relay that turns on the fan.
    • this is the typical t stat wiring
