Energy efficiency and environmental concerns are well and good- but a mechanized- sanitized- silent artificial fire under glass will never have the same psychological effect as a big- smoky- roaring blaze deep within a genuine masonry fireplace- which- as Frank Lloyd Wright said- should be the heart of every home. Some things just can't be measured in logic. And the government has no business telling us how to build! Someday people will wake up and send the building inspector and the (coward's) codes to the same place where the dinosaur's roam

And no one should tell us we can't drive around in 460 V8's with no catalytic converters- and no seat belts- and no headlights.... Freedom is great--so is responsibility --- your outlook is great if you were one of the few folks on the planet..but being as you have neighbors- you do have to think of all of them (us)
