I burned 2 bags of ACP in my stove with no issues, the heat was down compared to Eureka premium.

The real issue is quality control, it varies among bags even those from the same pallet.

And too many external variables affect pellets.

The 2 bags of ACP were current year (09), stored indoors.

I dont think thats a great deal. Several stove dealers in my area are running ACP for 170 a ton if you bought your stove from them (2 ton limit per customer)
22 tons volume purchase, single delivery address = 179 a ton. get 11 people together and split the load.

I wouldn't pay $79 a ton for ACP.
