What I have right now is the original 2 yrs old steel mesh gasket. I was told that these last a long time....
After two seasons it is showing some aging i.e. fibers are coming through in few areas, plus when in the bypass mode I can smell a tiny bit of smoke. I clean the area regularly.

Can I replace that gasket with a regular fiber "non steel mesh" covered gasket?

Thanks
D

Never thought about using regular gasket, but I know I always replace mine with the metal mesh one that the local dealer sells. Even if it costs me a few more dollars I think it is worth it because I know it is proven to work and gives me peace of mind. Just my $.02
