Hi. New to site.

I have a large brick fireplace in my living room, no insert wood buring. It is 82" Across front, 74" across back and 40" deep. The opening is
42" wide and 29" high and arched. The fireplace is this dimention over 150" hign.

I just added a room on back of house and was interested in cutting an opening in the back of fireplace to make it two sided. I'm interested in turning it into gas
log type.

Questions:

Is this doable or not worth the trouble?

Is it a DIY or do I need a mason?

Do I need to glass one side?

Would you use vented or vent free?

When I added on the room I installed pipe to the fireplace, anything special I need to know about drilling into fireplace for gas line and what type of pipe goes through
the hole I drill?

Any other comments or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
