US numbers for wood heating?

The Canada 2001 Census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population. Census day was May 15, 2001. On that day, Statistics Canada attempted to count every person in Canada. The total population count of Canada was 30,007,094.

Thats about 30% of the population with average three people per home using wood heat.

Any idea of the of US numbers for wood heating?
 
Karl: Ya really gotta read more carefully. 3 millions households@3 people per houselhold=9 million people,or approximately 30%.

OP was stating percentage of population, not percentage of households. If we really want to nitpic, I guess it would be more like 28.5% :roll:
