It is ok or wise to have a vent connection inside a wall? Should I put aluminum tape or high heat silicon around it..
And how the heck do you screw into dry wall when there is no stud behind it and have the thing hold?

Any connection inside the house should have silicone. I would say I would try to avoid it but silicone it and it will be inside the wall thimble so it should not be an issue.

As for the dry wall use plastic anchors.

Drywall Anchors. There are many types.

What are you trying to attach to the drywall?
