Hello i recently installed a regency Alterra in my 1st floor on my bi level house. I would like to ask how do I transfer heat to my 2nd floor living room. I am thinking of tjermlund level to level fan but I have read it may create a chimney effect in case there is a fire downstairs. Any help is much appreciated.

what happens upstairs when you just have the door open? Any heat get up there at all? If so, where does it stop?

Try blowing the cooler upstairs air down the stairs. Set a box of table fan at the top of the stairs, down low, and pointed downstairs. Run it on low speed. This often works better than a fan down below as the denser heavier air is easier to push than lighter warm air. You will feel a rush of warm air coming up high at the top of the door replacing the cooler air going down stairs.
