Question:

i have an old benfranklin and have converted to ventless logs..i am trying to sell my house but no one can tell me if this will meet any standards..they all state benfranklin is a wood burner..but if all installation dimensions are met how do i get it certified as ok??HELP ME IF YOU CAN..

Answer:

Your installation does fall between the cracks. It is probably NOT OK by most Vent Free log manufacturers to do what you did. Vent-Free logs are designed to be installed into existing woodburning fireplaces. The Franklin is probably not UL listed and approved, as many of these stoves are quite old.

Vent-Free stoves are on the market, but they are tested specifically in that configuration.
