Question:

I am considering buying a Vermont Castings Dauntless 1240 stove. I've never heard of that model. Does anyone have any experience with this stove?
Would you recommend it? Does it have a cat or not?
How old is it?

Answer:

The Dauntless was made before the new management took over...

It is a franklin style stove with large glass door. It is NOT made for heating, although it will warm a couple rooms. It is more of a fireplace/showpiece.

NO cat or other advanced combustion system is available.
