Question:
I have been having trouble with the damper getting stuck at high temps. Is this a common problem and what can I do ????"
Answer:
Assuming that it is a Defiant, and not a Defiant Encore, the damper have need to have some iron ground or files off of it. This stove is quite old, so it's possible that some internal parts have warped and are pushing the damper too close to an adjacent surface.
If it it a new Defiant (Encore), there is an adjustment that can be done by loosening a set screw on the damper plate. See your owners manual for more details.
