Vermont Castings thermostat ?

Can I use any old thermostat to operate my VC stardance propane stove?
I tried VC website and left messages with a few dealers. No Luck
The manual says something about a timer on the thermostat. Not sure I need this feature.

Usually any milivolt thermostat will do. But it must be a millivolt model. That covers most thermostats.

For instance, I used a set back model on my avalon gas stove - worked fine.
