was sealing surround a good or bad idea?

I sealed it up with this fireblock sealant rated at 1,382 degrees f. Also sealed the bottom where air was rushing under the stove and up the chimney. I was having cold air problems in an old leaky house. The only issue I see with doing this is having to pull insert out when cleaning chimney. What say you?

Yea, it's a slammer. Didn't mean to load that pic soo big. I did it from my slow phone, and not sure how to get the pic thumbnail size.

I made the pic a thumbnail for ya. Slammers are no longer allowed. Time for a cleaning and liner.
