(please LMK if I should use a different forum for this question)

We have a very small woodstove (a Harman, non-cat), and often times natural firewood is too long, wet or too much trouble to use.
Duraflame logs (wax logs) are nice, but they are very expensive (even with the coupons). A year ago, while visiting upstate New York, I bought some compressed wood logs from a store there, on sale for $2 or $3 per 20 pounds. These were the logs: http://www.excelsiorwood.com/Excelsior_Fire_Logs.html They worked great, but that place is a 6 hour drive away.
Biobricks / compressed wood briquettes would be OK, too..

Didn't there used to be a page where people entered when they bought firewood or other biomass fuel, and then you could search on what prices people were paying in different locations?

Thanks,

Peter

Tractor Supply is the only place I have found them around here. And now they only carry the large ones in the three pack. I tried some last week and they are garbage. Messy and fall apart almost as soon as they are in the stove.

Avoid the large low density logs. They are not worth it.

It's a small hike from DC but Barrick Garden Center in Walkersville MD sells Liberty Bricks (2lb bricks). They are nice dense quality bricks. TSC is probably closer and has their Fuel Blocks which are around 7lb/block. Price is probably close per ton.

These logs are not to be used in a wood stove because they contain wax and are only for use in an open fire. It says this in the stove manual and I think on the DuraFlame log packaging.

Liberty bricks are available from the source for $170/ton if you feel like driving to Doswell. I've been using them for several years...

Some other info I found (but nothing beats the $170/ton liberty bricks price)

Ace hardware and Hearth, in Glen Burnie, south of Baltimore, sells BioBlock and Crown Briquettes. BioBlock: 12 pack = $5.99 $475.99 for pallet of 50 packs (600 bricks), 1 ton. Crown Briquettes: 12 pack= $4.99 $359 for a pallet of 50 packs . http://www.acehardwareandhearth.com/

Also, I learned that there is an organization based right in Takoma Park called "The Alliance for Green Heat" http://www.forgreenheat.org/ . They are "a non-profit that promotes cleaner and more efficient residential wood and pellet heating, with a strong focus on low and middle-income families." The nice people there gave me some other info on sources:

Pelletdirect.com sells Hot Bricks (Hardwood Heating Brick), Envi Block, Fiber Fuel Lewis Bricks, and Envi’s 8 for the Wood Stove. A pallet costs $289. I have attached their shipping costs below. (This is probably the best option if you are going to ship.)
Woodpellets.com allows you to put in your zip code and gives you a list of possible dealers.
Btpellet.com sells Eco Bricks and Hot Bricks both at $274/pallet. Call (860)-410-0747 for shipping costs.
alternativeheatingfuels.com sells Envir Bricks and Liberty Bricks at $265/ton and Hot Bricks at $279/ton. Call (717)-926-8271 for delivery pricing.

BioPellet LLC (http://originalbiobricks.com/buy and you can enter your zip code)
Marnic Coal & Fuel Products, NJ
732-792-0920 or 908-907-0909
pallet: $325, 50 packets on a pallet, 20 bricks in a packet, comes out to one ton (HotBricks) shipping: $2 per mile
SOS Stoves Port (Ft. Murray, NJ)
