This white ash was dropped on the ice months ago. Since then, the ice melted and last week's storms brought the lake up 4 feet higher than in the pic. The trunk was submerged and barely floated. My question is: will it take an extra year to dry once C/S/S before it is good to burn? Has anyone rescued waterlogged fuel for firewood and how much longer (if any) did the wood need to dry after being under water for a week? IMG_20130426_223125.jpg

Get it split & stacked up, I bet not much more than normal
2 years , it'll be good to burn

Solid wood is not like a sponge so it will take no longer than if it was laying in the lawn and got wet in a heavy rain storm.

Being that it is an Ash it may be dry enough to burn next season. Ash dries incredibly fast.

Gark, we've had lots of ash laying in water for long periods of time. It does take just a little longer to dry but not much. We've got some laying in the creek now that we should pull out but it will still be there next fall and we'll do it then.
