So you may have seen my thread about swapping out our wood-burning insert for a pellet insert. With that in mind we went to Preston Trading Post today to check out the offerings.

We looked at Mt Vernon AE, Castile, and Enviro M55 insert. We walked away very impressed by the Mt Vernon AE, incredibly quiet, especially when compared to our Lopi Freedom.

We are still planning on looking at the Harman Accentra, but are currently sold on the Mt Vernon AE.

They were asking $4240 for the AE insert in black. Enamel adds ~ $500 I was told. The M55 was not hooked up to operate so we couldn't compare side-by-side. I was impressed with how quiet the AE was, and it definitely could throw some heat, even though it only got up to medium-high by the time we left.

I take it you are satisfied with yours?

I am in SE CT near the casinos. If you give me the name of your dealer I am definitely up for a couple hour drive for saving $1K.

Thanks OMV, I will check them out.

Congrats on finally coming to the "Dark Side" !! LOL...

Well that would be full-time Dex since we have a pellet stove upstairs.

is that what the stove you have now sounds like?

Nope, mine is actually much quieter than that. That one sounds like it needs a visit from Scott. Gorgeous room though OMV. EDIT: Just realized you probably meant the woodstove we are thinking about replacing. It is not quite that loud.

Ah.... You already saw the stove call Luke for a price, I could deliver it down to you, no charge if I put it on a CT day.

Thanks for the generous offer Scott, I will definitely keep that in mind.

Mine sounds like that in my family room. Does anyone know how to muffle that sound form the Lopi Leyden?
