I posted some pics of my stove and got several comments about things that needed to be corrected for safety reasons. One comment mentioned that galvanized stove pipe is not good enough for a wood stove.

What gauge black stove pipe is safe for my stove? 24g. 22g ?

I like to burn hot so I'm leaning toward the 22 gauge but if everyone agrees 24 is sufficient I won't waste money on overkill.

Good to get rid of that galv pipe regardless - not sure if wood heat gets it hot enough but I know that stuff is toxic to weld.

Im already at that conclusion. Would not be welding my G pipe and the zinc fumes have long been burned off. Just ordered 22g black pipe (HeatFab) single wall

24 would have worked, but you can see the better quality in the 22 gauge.

You made the right choice.

Good to hear that you are tightening up the setup smokey. There's a lot more peace of mind when every thing is proper order and solidly screwed together.

I recently upgraded to the 22 gauge black pipe and replaced my 2 x 6 pedestal with cinder blocks. Everything screwed in securely and all joints fitted as far into their sockets and they can go.

Still need to cover the wooden baseboard on the wall behind the stove. However since the firebox is sitting almost a foot above the level of the baseboard and a foot out from it - with a blower chamber cover adding another couple inch of heat shielding - I'm not worried about that baseboard - but I will cover it with hardee (cement) board then brick over that just to be sure.

Also need to re-install the correct door box into the clean out opening.

Will post pics when the last items are done. Right now I think the most egregious issues have been addressed.
