What is "Base Of Appliance"?

Back from vacation and back on project. According to the manual the chimney length is measured from "Base of appliance". Is that the hearth, where the wood sits, top of stove? It's a T4.

Should mean from the firebrick at the bottom on the inside. Other makers specify from the flue collar. I don't think it makes much difference. If your flue has insufficiency draft for your stove, you need to add more height anyway. Just a minimum starting point IMO.
 
The stove is the appliance, but that little difference is sort of a moot point.
