What to do with coal ash

One of the guys at work used to burn a coal stove. he's switching to a NG stove, but he still has an 8 foot high pile of ash in his backyard, and he doesn't know what to do with it.

any advice?

is there anybody who could come take the ash away for a reasonable fee?

Bag it and slowly send it to the landfill.

riffing on EatenByLimestone's advice you could spread it on a gravel driveway too...but in a manner so that it won't track into the house.

My father burned coal and used the ash to change the grade and fill low spots in the yard. Looking back I'm not sure if that was a good idea due to heavy metals, etc.
