I started out the season with 3 tons of uh.. i forgot the name.. but there bagged by Biomaxx in Wellsville NY I think they are rebagged dry creek.

I have 1 ton left and my wife is urging me to pick up another ton just incase winter lingers (recent cold snap has her concerned) My local options are

Green Supreme, Stove Chow, North American, Instant Heat, all for $209.00/ton

What do you guys recommend? I have tried them all but honestly can't remember anything about them other then the North American seemed to produce a lot of ash.

I should mention.. that in addition to cost tractor supply adds tax and so does home depot.. stove chow are at home depot so the cost would be higher i think the tax is 4%

Before you go to Home Desperate go to your local post office and ask for a moving packet. Inside the packet there is a coupon for lowes. I think its 10 or 15 percent off and home depot honors the coupon you save like $30.00

I like the Green Supremes just used the stove chow they burn good and little ash but it seems like they were smaller then the Green Supremes so the bag did not last as long and I never tried the other brand

Very disappointed with North American, plenty of ash and not hot enough. I am surprised when I hear Stove Chow suggested. I may have to try them again. Lowes was carrying Somersets which work great for me.

Well if your into supporting your local / regional economy thing, then go with Instant Heat, N.Americans or GS. I'm probably the only fool on this board who seems to like the N.Americans (Currans), their sorta like that troubled kid / unconditional love thing - they do create lots of ash. Honestly, grab a couple bags of each and see what works best in your stove, the price is sure right on all of them!

Never burned em, but going by the general consensus here, Stove Chow. GS will throw a lot of heat but lots of ash too.

When i bought my three ton in the fall I tried to use a coupon.. apparently the per ton price is already a discount so any other coupons and discounts will not apply...

thats weird I purchased a ton in october and there price was 209 a ton and used the 10% coupon and they did not give me a hard time. is that the price you paid per ton or did you pay less then 209. Just went to the post office yesterday to get my usual lowes coupon and they donot put the coupon in there any more. They give you a code to go to there website and print it out. but I have not printed it yet we will see if they take them. I hope so I hate paying full price

This used to work very well but the post offices in my area have all removed this welcome kit and you must now register online. The coupon takes a month or two to arrive. I can't remember if this was a national move but USPS caught onto people taking a dozen at a time and selling on eBay.
