Anyone want to take a stab at why Englanders recommends setting the heat range to #9 when connected to a thermostat ?
I`m just curious.

"we recommend the Control Board be set at “9†on Heat Range and Blower Speed while using the thermostat."

Just a WAG but here it is: Likely because anything less than that would take way to long to heat up the stove and recover temperature in a reasonable manner or get the temperature past set point and actully allow the stove to take a breather.

I found it a bit strange since prior to 2004 models they recommended the setting be at #5 .

Gio,

Does this stove have idle on low setting(high/low) once the stat has the room up to temp. Or does it go to off(auto/off)?

Jay, IIRC, the older designs (pdvc, pdv, etc) are hi-lo stoves only on a stat.
