I believe my wife calls that chicory. She get upset when I mow it down with the grass. I call it a weed ;-)

There are several that look like it, but my best guess is Viper's Bugloss or Blueweed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echium_vulgare

I think your correct Quads like they use to say to Jack when teeing off "you the man".
