Windhager-Austria to enter the North American Market with whole house wood pellet heating systems – New England in pole-position.

Marc Caluwe and Craig MacElhiney, of Caluwe, Inc., Berhard Holzer and Rainer Romirer of Windhager Zentralheizung GmbH finalized an agreement that will allow Caluwe, Inc. to install 15 to 20 BioWIN whole house wood pellet heating systems in the Northeastern USA and Eastern Canada before the end of 2012.

For more than 90 years, the name Windhager has been inseparably linked with high-quality heating technology "Made in Austria". What started as a small locksmith's shop in 1921 has now grown into one of the largest and most important companies in the heating business in Europe.
From the company's headquarters in Seekirchen am Wallersee near Salzburg-Austria, Windhager currently supplies the latest heating equipment and accessories for all fuels throughout Europe. Today, Windhager is one of the largest and most successful hydronic wood pellet heater manufacturers in Europe. Numerous awards, such as the "Energy Genie of the Ministry for the Environment and Upper Austria", or the Province of Salzburg Innovation Prize for Business, underline Windhagers’ expertise in the field of wood pellet heating. However, the best demonstration of the high level of acceptance enjoyed by Windhager products with end-users is provided by the sustained high demand for Windhager pellet heating systems. More than 42,000 households in Europe are already heated with pellet heating systems from Windhager.

The Windhager BioWIN-series of whole house hydronic wood pellet heaters is fully re-engineered for the North American market. The BioWIN for the North American market was tested in house for over 1 year. The BioWIN-series is tested/certified to UL2523:2009 and listed by OMNI-Testing in Portland Oregon.

Four BioWIN models with different heat output will be available: 34,000 BTU/hr, 51,000 BTU/hr, 72,000 BTU/hr and 89,000 BTU/hr. All models are fully modulating from 100%, down to 30% of the maximum heat output. Staged systems are also available for larger applications in configurations with a heat output of up to 265,000 BTU/hr.

The installation of 15 to 20 BioWIN pilot projects is the first step in developing a Windhager dealer/service network in the USA and Canada.
Exceptional product quality for an affordable price combined with excellent customer service will push the use of whole house wood pellet systems in North America to a new high.

Training sessions for the installation and servicing of Windhagers’ BioWIN hydronic wood pellet heaters will be taught by Rainer Romirer and Craig MacElhiney at the Caluwe, Inc. Manufacturing and R&D facilities in Billerica, Massachusetts.

For those interested in the Windhager BioWIN pilot program, training will be scheduled in upcoming months; call 781-858-1167 or e-mail Craig MacElhiney at Caluwe, Inc. for enrollment information on the free, 2-day training session.
