Correct me if I'm wrong aren't your selling pa pellets which IMO is terrible atleast I thought they were, so how can someone selling a shoulder season pellet knock home depot. What are you selling yours for?

Your half right. We do sell PA Pellets but we are not a huge pellet retailer. We only sell between 300 and 400 tons per year, and thats fine with me. There is little money to be made in pellets until you make that leap from a few hundred a year to a few thousand.

PA pellets work great in our showroom, and our customers come back and buy them year after year because of the heat, quality and low ash content. In fact, after some try the $250 per ton big box store pellets they come back more than happy for buy PA pellets for $280 per ton, telling me it wasn't worth saving 100 bucks for the years fuel supply for the extra trouble they had.

How can I knock HD Pellets? By saying "I think it would be great if big box stores sold a decent pellet" Quite a knock, I know. So, being you formed your opinion on PA pellets being "terrible at least"..how many tons did you burn? In what kind of stove? Or did you read it on the intraweb therefore making it a factual statement?

I have about 80 loyal pellet customers who come back to us year after year for PA pellets. Perhaps they need to read something online to let them know their good experience with them is an illusion.

burning another bag of the Winter Warmth, started early this morning and heat is great as i had mentioned, the only thing I didn't like much was some pellets are crumbled in the bag, pellet size is very small so i assume that's why pellets may get broken down during bagging and transportation.

..

I burn't only ten bags but that was enough to tell me they were garbage, and I'm burning them in a st croix prescott (I know it's not an europa the king of all stoves) BTW I found the pa pellets at a true value but can tell you theres no value in shi!@#$ pellets, you sell them and love them good for you.Your costumers love them good for them,I've found good pellets at home depot and also found crap.I wasnt trying to get into a pissing contest with you but you are a dealer and sell the best products out there so who am I to voice my opinion.

Only a dozen or so of our customers own Europas. The rest are made up of other stoves we sell, St Croix, Regency, Enerzone and AES as well as stove bought elsewhere.

I will say I burnt them last year so this year could be different, maybe the ones I got were handled to much creating the massive amount of fines, so if I came off a bit harsh I apologize. My point is I believe there are decent pellets to be had whether in be at a big box or your local dealer or pellet house and the opasite is true.

Any pellet can change from batch to batch. My only original comment was I thought it would be great of the big box stores sold good pellets. For our industry, selling pellet fuels is a neccessary evil. We do it to keep our stove customers with good fuel. If they could buy good quality premium pellets for 220 a ton at HD all year with no supply shortages, I could sell more pellet stoves because folks have a source for cheap fuel. As it stands right now, folks paying 270 per ton in some cases can do just as well running their oil furnaces. Not so good if your trying to sell pellet stoves.

True enough at current oil prices. But a) oil prices can change in an instant like we saw in 2007/2008. and b) Yes there is a little bit of work involved in maintaining a stove. But, my house is so much more comfortable. I know that is hard to convince potential customers of though. It's one of those things where you can't believe it until you see for yourself.

HD sells stove chow around here anyong herd of them?

Yes, the brand name has been around for a long time, but their made by a different company now. Some people like them, others (BTU) call them "Stove Crap"....or something like that.

I suggest you buy a few bags to test burn before investing in a large amount.

jay,

i wish i had a temp. test to check the temp. out of the blower, I really hope someone can confirm if this pellet is really the Hamer Hot Ones, which in fact is made in Virginia (WV).

Hi GEEK,
I can now confirm that the HD Winter Warmth Pellets are made by The Hamer Pellet Fuel Co. of Kenova, WV. the makers of Hamer's Hot Ones. Going on the info that you got from your local HD people, I emailed Hamer yesterday and got a reply back today from a Hamer Rep. She stated:

"We do private label for different groups depending on our production that is available. We did produce Winter Warmth for Home Depot this year and appreciate your kind words about our pellet fuel."

Kind regards,

L. Hamer

Hamer Pellet Fuel

Like you I was surprised at how good the pellets burned and they are HOT! I picked up 4 bags of Winter Warmth Pellets on Monday to try and they are great! I went back today and bought a ton of them( made 2 trips in my Dodge Caravan!). These are the best pellets that I've burned, and you're right , they are hot! My Englander 25PDVC has always worked well with other pellets but now it's in afterburner mode! LOL I'm running it on 3-3 and it's 76 degrees in the room that it sits in and 70-72 throughout the rest of my 1600sf house. I had to crack the window a bit today to cool it off a liittle. Those are Good pellets!----Lorne.
