Here is a pic of our vacation project - cutting up the wood from 3 70'+ trees and wood that was given to us (maple and more fir). There are 3 large piles, 1 small one and a huge one in the barn, oh and a large pile up by the house. The stack of uncut wood logs is 5' tall and the hubby's riding mower is practically hidden between 2 large piles. The best part of all of this is after this is all done we won't have to touch, chop, saw wood for at least 2yrs - or when we decide to take down the other 10 trees we want down around our property. We'll get it stacked sometime in the next week and hopefully the bugs that took up residence will be gone soon. We removed 80% or so of the bark as we were splitting it up.

Some days I long for a quiet little bungalow in town.....

Naaaa! You would just get bored. Welcome to the forum.

So far we have about 2 cords stacked and it doesn't feel like we have hardly touched the piles of wood laying around - still have that little bit of wood to chuck & chop still too. Once we can stand back, look at our booty, smile and enjoy the warmth of wood heat it will make it all worth it. There is nothing like a good wood heat.
