Question:

I burn logs cut from trees in my yard -- mostly oak with a little "cedar" (American juniper). Would sprinkling the ashes around my land work to fertilize the growing trees, hurt them, or be a waste of time?

Answer:

It has potash in it, so it helps...not a whole lot, but its a good way to dispose of it...
