Same thing I do with mine. We have a small mulched "driveway" extension that it gets raked into. Lucky for me thats also where my log loads get dumped so its easy ;lol
 
Nice! Way to kill 2 birds with one triaxle.
 
Will help to keep weeds at bay, but might not be the most healthy thing for the flowers. I remember something about using up nitrogen for decomposition, which the flowers may need. I'm no expert on this, just repeating what I think I've heard.
 
I don't think anything colorful will grow through. Chips are pretty hard on flowers and grass. Weeds? They like everything.

This is true. Chips use up the nitrogen, which grass/flowers/greenery need to flourish
 
Just add some nitrogen. Also be aware that yellow jackets might find that a handy spot.
