Any idea of what kind(s) of wood this is I picked up off craigslist last night? Good for firewood? woodworking?

Going to need some better pics maybe not quit so close up- must be raining where you are other wise that is a lot of sap which could indicate a type of elm ( around here we call it piss elm)
 
Ooooohhhh! Looks like you have one of the finest "pest" trees around where you live...........black locust. Great firewood.

I agree with locust. Have it around these parts as well. Darn invasive species.........LOL
