Smells good burning, easy to split, ready to use in one good year after split and stacked. Leaves white fluffy ash and good heat. Oh forgot to say yep walnut.
 
Yep, There is nothing that grows in North America that is even close to being as dark as Black Walnut heartwood. The bark and wide sapwood are also characteristic of Black Walnut. I burn a lot of this, and it is pretty good firewood.
