Was able to land some of this free firewood from a guy who just had his property logged. Any idea on some the these pics. My guess would be:

1 - ?
2 - Honey Locust
3 - White Oak
4 - Pignut Hickory

Very hard to tell just from the bark. Different ages, disease states, sizes, parts of the tree, I can't.

You guys are good.

1-? (0 % sure )
2 Aspen (poplar) (80 % sure)
3 Pignut hickory (60% sure)
4 Shagbark hickory (99% sure)

I think Jackatc has it right. How big is the tree in pic #1? That would be a very big Ironwood around here.

3 looks like red elm. 4 of course is Hickory.
