    From that thick bark I would guess cottonwood.

    I gotta say, that looks like some Cottonwood to me, but check the rings on the largest piece on the right. I can't count them all at that resolution, but estimate is about 40-45. What is that 10-12" across? Some slooooow growing cottonwood for southern NYS, no?

    i think you are all wrong. i am 100% certain that it is chestnut oak. by far, my favorite wood. the bark is a dead givaway. now, since i got it right, i want a face cord delivered asap.

    oh yeah, 20" lengths please :p
