    Just picked up this load from a friend of a friend. It was already cut into rounds and stacked she said for a couple of years. The rounds at the very bottom were punky...

    Yeah, after looking at some sugar maple pics on google I think the bark looks the same. Of course I WANT IT TO BE sugar maple so that could be influencing me too...

    Some kind of Maple. Looks like silver. No leaves to go by. Any trees in the vicinity where it was?
