Tree was 36", rounds were heavy, splits easy. No leaves around.

That thar be ash.
 
I thought it was ash, but it splits so clean, and after having it split a few days, it's pretty light.
Maybe it was standing dead?

Ash is pretty easy splitting stuff. Usually not stringy.
