Wood Stoves in a Three Family House

One of my friends at work, wants to put a wood stove into (he's the landlord) his first floor apartment, in a three family house (Victorian).

I don't know if "by code" he can do that, and I obviously don't think he'd need a very large stove.

Any thoughts or suggestions about his idea? Stove recommendations? (I'm thinking a small Jotul or something like that. He doesn't have THAT big of an apartment).

Many apartments have wood stoves. Proving they can figure something out with the chimney, I say go for it. If all else fails, talk him into the Window mounted pellet stove, lol.
