I live in kansas in a 3000sq ft home all new windows poor insulation in the middle of nowhere and no windbreaks to speak of stove will be in the basment (unfished) no heat in there now hoping stove will help with that the 3000 is the two upper story of the house current heat is all electric (stinks)and a 25pdvc helps a lot keeps the bill down below 400 most months

As my neighbor told me when I started burning " Put up 10 cords of wood for the first winter " see what you use and what the winter ( heating degree days)was like and figure on reducing it a little as you learn and fine tune your wood use.
Why no fishing in the basement ? ;-)

from what i have read and saw over the years on comments of owners i think its fair to say most guys generally use around 7 cords per year for this furnace
of coarse theres tons of variables but that should probably be darn close to what youll use if burning nonstop and not running it wide open all the time

Does anyone who lives more in the south have a comment on how much wood they use with the 28-3500? I'm trying to decide between it and a NC-30. Live in North Alabama, 2000 sqft upstairs, with 1800 sqft unfinshed basement. Excellent insulation upstairs, solid concrete walls in basement underground except for large insulated garage door.
