I'm not a member there so I can't see the pics, but reading it I would guess that they are shooting flames out the chimney. With my CB 6048 I could get the flames coming out the 8 ft chimney if I left the door cracked slightly during a reload. It would look like a jet engine. At the time, I figured that I was burning off all of the creosote that had accumulated on the inside of the boiler and this would help with the efficiency. What a difference a few years of reading on Hearth makes :)
