    Question:

I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT CERTAIN WOODS GIVE OFF DANGEROUS FUMES AND SHOULD NOT BE BURNED IN A FIREPLACE. IS THIS TRUE? IF SO, WHICH WOODS ARE DANGEROUS TO BURN? I'VE RECENTLY HAD TO CLEAR PART OF MY PROPERTY AND HAVE EUCALYPTUS, ITALIAN CYPRESS(?), AND YUCCA WOOD. WHAT SHOULD I KEEP AS FIREWOOD?

    Answer:

I have never heard this said before. All woods put out many chemicals that you would not want to breathe, but they go up the chimney.

Most woods, when seasoned and dry, are OK to burn. Do not burn pressure treated wood like landscape and railroad ties.
